Alzette turns two

Always up for something new, I was really excited when my friend, Julie, asked me to come over and take some photos of her two year old, Alzette.

I studied up beforehand on the ins and outs of shooting kids this age. I'm glad I did because I probably would have run into trouble otherwise.

Julie and her husband Scott were great hosts. Alzette did her thing in the backyard and took us on a walk down the block - stopping to check out flowers and play with helicopter seeds. During the shoot, we were talking about the differences between recording (image/video) important moments in a child's life and living those moments. Specifically, how the act of documenting almost always alters or ends whatever is happening. Julie wrote more about this on her blog, http://livingmother.wordpress.com/2014/06/13/in-the-moment/

I'm happy with the results and am looking forward to doing more toddler and family photos.
