Alzette turns two

Always up for something new, I was really excited when my friend, Julie, asked me to come over and take some photos of her two year old, Alzette.

I studied up beforehand on the ins and outs of shooting kids this age. I'm glad I did because I probably would have run into trouble otherwise.

Julie and her husband Scott were great hosts. Alzette did her thing in the backyard and took us on a walk down the block - stopping to check out flowers and play with helicopter seeds. During the shoot, we were talking about the differences between recording (image/video) important moments in a child's life and living those moments. Specifically, how the act of documenting almost always alters or ends whatever is happening. Julie wrote more about this on her blog,

I'm happy with the results and am looking forward to doing more toddler and family photos.
